Build the market and assessment portfolio
Course overview · 4 min reading + 60 min practice, estimated
Principles and method
Create three search lanes for each role and ten fictional candidate records with explicitly fictional source notes. Include one person with transferable experience, one with missing evidence and one who requests an adjustment. Design outreach using only facts established in the case. Map essential criteria to screening questions, structured interview questions and a proportionate work sample. Define scoring anchors before scoring the fictional evidence. The portfolio must show how unknown information is handled and how decisions can be explained. Do not add sensitive personal details for realism.
Worked example
A transferable candidate has quality-control experience in food manufacturing. The assessment tests traceability and corrective-action reasoning rather than rejecting the person because their previous industry differs from Alder’s.
Put it into practice
Produce a market map, two outreach drafts, a screening matrix, interview guide and one short work sample with a scoring rubric.
Use fictional information and keep your work in your own notes.
Compare your approach: self-review guidance
Score evidence traceability, search breadth, criterion alignment, consistent scoring and accessibility from 0 to 3. A score of 3 requires a documented challenge case that changed or validated your design. Do not award yourself full marks merely for completing a template.
