Maintain a correction and refresh process
Course overview · 4 min reading + 12 min practice, estimated
Principles and method
Research quality continues after a brief is delivered. Define which records expire quickly and which change slowly. Track material corrections, where the claim was used and who must be informed. Avoid silently replacing evidence in a way that obscures why a previous decision was made. A correction log should be proportionate and access-controlled, not a permanent collection of unnecessary personal data. Review recurring mistakes to improve source selection and training. Make it easy for candidates and clients to flag inaccuracies through the established contact process.
Worked example
An incorrect qualification appears in a shortlist and an interview pack. The owner corrects both, informs the assessors and checks whether the error affected the screening decision. Editing only the source record would leave the downstream harm unresolved.
Put it into practice
Write a correction plan for one material claim already shared with a panel.
Use fictional information and keep your work in your own notes.
Compare your approach: self-review guidance
Identify all affected outputs and decisions, the correction owner and completion evidence. Include how the candidate can confirm the corrected detail. Preserve only the audit information needed under the organisation’s policy.
