Employer Brand and Employee Value Proposition · Lesson 3

Align the candidate journey with the promise

Course overview · 4 min reading + 12 min practice, estimated

Principles and method

Audit job adverts, outreach, interview preparation, panel behaviour and offers against the proposition. A claim of transparency is undermined by vague compensation or unexplained delays. A claim of inclusion needs accessible participation routes and respectful treatment. Candidate experience includes people who are not hired. Give consistent information across recruiters and managers while allowing role-specific detail. When the experience contradicts the promise, fix the service or revise the promise. Do not ask staff to defend an inaccurate message for the sake of consistency.

Worked example

An employer promotes respectful communication but leaves unsuccessful finalists without an update. The improvement assigns closure ownership and an achievable feedback process rather than launching another reputation campaign.

Put it into practice

Audit five fictional touchpoints against your three proposition pillars.

Use fictional information and keep your work in your own notes.

Compare your approach: self-review guidance

For each mismatch, identify an operational owner and action. Separate a wording correction from a service change. Include the rejection journey, where employer promises are often tested most clearly.
