Maintain a signal-to-action workflow
Course overview · 4 min reading + 12 min practice, estimated
Principles and method
Capture the source, date, interpretation, owner and next action. Set expiry or review rules so old signals do not fuel misleading outreach months later. Record outcomes from conversations to improve future interpretation. Coordinate account ownership so several recruiters do not contact the same buyer with conflicting messages. Respect preferences and existing relationships. A useful account record stores what was learned, including no current fit, rather than endlessly recycling the same event into a campaign.
Worked example
A site announcement leads to a conversation confirming that hiring will begin next spring. The account plan records a permissioned follow-up date and stops treating the signal as immediate demand.
Put it into practice
Build a signal log with three outcomes and a refresh rule.
Use fictional information and keep your work in your own notes.
Compare your approach: self-review guidance
Include confirmed no-need and future-timing outcomes. The next action should reflect what the buyer actually said, not the original automated trigger.
