Start with the value actually delivered

Principles and method
Review what the engagement achieved and how the client experienced it. Separate a successful hire from the broader operational outcome, which may take time to observe. Use evidence, agreed measures and honest limitations. Resolve delivery issues before using the relationship as a sales platform. A repeat-business conversation should build on trust and understanding, not assume that one placement entitles you to every future vacancy. Record what the client values and where your service was less useful.
Worked example
A client appreciates the market intelligence but found weekly updates hard to interpret. The account plan improves reporting before proposing a broader search programme.
Put it into practice
Write a post-engagement review with three evidence points and two improvement questions.
Use fictional information and keep your work in your own notes.
Compare your approach: self-review guidance
Include a limitation or unresolved issue. Avoid claiming credit for outcomes you have not observed or that depend on other teams.
