Pilot and hand over the workflow
Course overview · 4 min reading + 12 min practice, estimated
Principles and method
Test with fictional records before approved live use. Verify inputs, output accuracy, permissions and exception handling. Compare total effort with the manual baseline and inspect whether work moved to reviewers. Document how to pause, resume, correct records and retire the workflow. Assign a maintenance owner and a review trigger for upstream field or supplier changes. A handover should let another operator diagnose a failure without the creator. Keep logs proportionate and avoid storing sensitive payloads unnecessarily.
Worked example
A field rename breaks pack generation during the pilot. The test catches the missing role location, and the handover adds a contract check before the workflow can send any pack.
Put it into practice
Produce a one-page runbook and a pilot decision using your test results.
Use fictional information and keep your work in your own notes.
Compare your approach: self-review guidance
Include permitted scope, owner, checks, recovery and rollback. State unresolved limitations and a bounded next step. Do not declare readiness if exception cases remain untested.
