Qualify conditions for successful delivery
Course overview · 4 min reading + 12 min practice, estimated
Principles and method
Confirm compensation, location, working arrangements, essential requirements, authority and interview capacity. Discuss access to decision makers and the quality of feedback needed. Understand existing suppliers and internal activity without assuming exclusivity. Identify conditions that could make the search unworkable and explain their implications. A qualification record should distinguish confirmed information, assumptions and commitments. Do not accept a delivery promise based on a brief that material stakeholders have not approved. Where appropriate, propose a diagnostic phase to resolve uncertainty.
Worked example
A client wants a shortlist in ten days but the approver is unavailable for a month. The plan addresses decision availability rather than treating shortlist speed as the only delivery requirement.
Put it into practice
Complete a qualification record for a fictional search with three unresolved conditions.
Use fictional information and keep your work in your own notes.
Compare your approach: self-review guidance
For each gap, state the consequence, owner and resolution date. Classify the search as ready, conditionally ready or not ready, with a reasoned recommendation.
