Check research before using it

Separate facts and suggestions
An AI-generated list of employers is a starting hypothesis. Check that each business exists, operates in the right market and has the relevant roles or operating environment. Record a source and date for factual claims. When evidence is unavailable, label the claim as unverified.
Check the fit, not only the wording
A polished profile summary can still miss an essential requirement. Compare it to the original material. Distinguish direct evidence, transferable experience and gaps to explore. Ask a candidate about gaps rather than allowing the tool to fill them in.
Build a review habit
Before using an output, ask: which claim could change a decision, what source supports it, what information is missing, and who should check it? Keep the original evidence accessible to the next person in the process.
Put it into practice
Create a research table with columns for claim, source, date, confidence and next verification step. Add three fictional claims and explain how you would check them.
Use fictional information and keep your work in your own notes.
