Bring sales, delivery, finance and quality into a sustainable weekly operating rhythm.

## Your deliverable
A complete independent-practice operating playbook.

Use fictional information. Keep your completed work in your own secure notes. Exercises and capstone work are self-directed, not independently assessed.

## Lesson exercises

### 1. Design a week around capacity and commitments

Build a forty-hour fictional week and stress-test it with a five-hour unplanned issue.

Your response:

Worked example: A solo recruiter has two intensive searches and several discovery calls. The plan reserves delivery blocks and declines a third urgent start until capacity or scope can be adjusted.

Self-review guidance: Show which tasks move, which commitments remain protected and who is informed. Do not solve the exercise by assuming unlimited unpaid overtime.

### 2. Connect commercial and delivery records

Design a weekly dashboard with six sections and explicit next-action fields.

Your response:

Worked example: A search is commercially agreed but waiting on a client brief. The operating view shows the dependency and next decision, rather than treating the engagement as fully active sourcing work or as cash already received.

Self-review guidance: Include sales, delivery, candidate commitments, finance, risks and improvement. Avoid copying every detail into the dashboard; link to the source record and surface the decision needed.

### 3. Run financial, quality and risk checks

Create a weekly control checklist and a monthly downside review.

Your response:

Worked example: Revenue appears strong, but two invoices are overdue and three searches require more work than planned. The owner reviews cash and capacity before buying another tool or accepting a new commitment.

Self-review guidance: Include cash timing, work in progress, critical defects, access and continuity. Each check should have an action threshold and a record of follow-through.

### 4. Improve the operating system deliberately

Assemble your pathway outputs into a playbook and choose a thirty-day improvement experiment.

Your response:

Worked example: A recruiter repeatedly rewrites client updates. The improvement creates an evidence-and-decisions template and tests whether it reduces preparation time while improving client clarity, before considering automated generation.

Self-review guidance: The playbook should contain market thesis, qualification, delivery, communication, finance and risk routines with owners or adviser contacts. State unresolved readiness gaps honestly. Completion is a self-directed operating plan, not a guarantee of business success.

## Portfolio review
Check that your work is internally consistent, distinguishes facts from assumptions, names decision owners and explains its limitations. Revise gaps before using the method in real work.
